Thermal rectification of solid-liquid phase change thermal diode under the effect of supercooling

Solid-liquid phase change thermal diode (SL-PCTD) is potential for rectification, however the unsustainable rectification ratio of SL-PCTD hampers its practical application, demanding a reasonably compatible design. Herein, composed calcium chloride hexahydrate (CaCl2·6H2O) and paraffin wax investigated, where supercooling effect CaCl2·6H2O plays significant role in rectification. In forward direction, natural convection sustains below melting temperature (30 °C) due to supercooling, leading robust heat transfer within bias range 10–40 °C. reverse flux should be inhibited effective thus dislodged via manual release (MSR) large 30–7 As consequence, 2.95 achieved, which competitively sustainable at compared without effect. Furthermore, theoretical model base on resistance approach proposed analyze comprehensively, experimental results find great agreement.
